Xanthi was flooded on Saturday night with people who took to the streets to celebrate the carnival.
According to the local website www.xanthinea.gr, already in the afternoon the traffic in the city center increased, while despite the fact that there was no official event for the carnival – since they have been postponed due to the closing of this year – dozens were the citizens who met in the central square and began to dance and light flares.
This is an image that recalls the times before the coronavirus. According to the same source, the increase in the crowd caused the mobilization of those responsible, the music that sounded through the city’s speakers stopped, while citizens were advised to leave.
