For beginners in the world of stand up comedy and those who are familiar with the problems of soccer, his name Alexandrou tsouvelas it was not unknown. The rest met him when he opened the door to “Taxi” for the first time on September 19, 2020.
From that moment until today, Alexandros Tsouvelas has welcomed more than 200 people in his “Taxi” and has offered moments of laughter to his spectators. Prev1.
Are there limits to a comedian’s satire? Is there a topic that is simply forbidden? How do you comment on allegations of sexual abuse that have come to light recently? And who will give the free shot of ρισ to the culprits in the end?
Alexandros Tsouvelas spoke to newsbeast.gr and answered everything …
– You entered the life of the spectators with “Taxi” and made everyone look for you on the street. But how did “Taxi” come into your life?
The “Taxi” came through Mr. George Pofantis who made the proposal to me. We already had a collaboration on the Netwix web platform and I had a sample of my work. We discussed it, we dropped it, and I think people have loved it.
– Did you accept the offer immediately?
I always think, why the television He wants attention to be paid to people who come out like us, that is, to children who became better known through the internet or other platforms. He wants attention, to be close to what you do. I did not have in mind that I have to do saves and TV. But I have always been interested in expressing myself and having fun in what I do. It is a key element in my life. I thought I would have a good time. I predicted that something good would come out of it and said yes.
– So, through “Taxi” did you express yourself?
I always express myself. Even through the interview that we are doing now. I don’t like doing practical things to pass the time, although we’ve all done them from time to time. I try everything I can to make sense of what I do and go one step further.
– Has there been anything “procedural” you have done that you have regretted?
No, I do not regret anything.
– You are a comedian, radio producer, presenter but also … singer …
A singer to say that I am I would have to do a professional job. I like to sing but I am not a professional.
– But you have sung in a club in Burnazi …
Yes, I did that too. Of course in 2000! I did it for a while, I think about 20 days. I made a song with some imitations. I was also looking for a way to express myself there. I was looking for a way to show things. I think that’s where it all starts. From ourselves and then comes the rest.
– When was the first time you discovered your comic “charisma”?
In school, in high school, when I saw that I had a knack for starting to imitate teachers. It is very important to see the other in their daily life or see them as much as you can while moving in space so that you can imitate them. The truth is that then I went back – then it was fashionable to smoke, I don’t smoke – to the smokehouse and I imitated it so that my colleagues could have a good time.
– What if your “strong” joke doesn’t get the acceptance you expected on the show?
You go to the other joke and to the other situation faster. You have to be prepared, have your antennas open. The area where the show takes place also influences. That is, if you are going to say a modern text and you look down at your audience and realize that they are older people in a provincial city, they want a different approach. So I always try to look at my audience and try to understand what it is about. While it is the comedian’s responsibility to “educate” his audience, it is also his responsibility to make his audience laugh. You need a balance.
– Is there a limit that a comedian should not cross?
I think it’s up to the comedian to push his limits. The edges are dug with a teaspoon into the ground slowly, but again flexibility is needed. If you see that you have crossed the line, again, it has to do with the reaction of the audience, you can bring things back and bring the audience back. I think it is the responsibility of the comedian to discover his limits and not be afraid of crossing them.
– Is there a topic you’ve never “touched on”?
There are topics that you always play and you have to play many topics. But it does matter if you bring something of your own there. Are you pushing someone away on this topic or do you want to satirize it and make it better for you, your audience, and your life? This is my thought and it always will be.
– Do you accept satire in your personal life?
Yes, I accept people, I listen to people. I come from them and that’s where what we do ends. But I also set my limits. Do not satirized Other comedians only some people oppose what you say and defend.
– Have you encountered inconvenient incidents in a program?
I’ve seen couples have intense erotic action back, back on the couch, and I play and because I’m tall my gaze rested there. They thought that because it was dark they did not appear. I have played with broken microphones as if I were an old singer. We have played with 6 people due to the heavy rain. We sit at a table and tell stories. Everything has happened to us. When there is friction and you play almost every Friday for several years, in small bars and cafes, when everyone starts, you will find a lot. Drunk, upset … a lot.
– In “Taxi”, what was the most inconvenient thing that happened to you that you didn’t “play” on TV?
I had a girl who, while saying “okay, let’s play”, she didn’t want to play at all. I do not participate. I do not know why. Did a message come from your awkward boy and you got into a fight? A very strange race but we handle them too.
– I’ve heard you use the phrase “comic whore.” Do you want to explain to me what you mean by that?
This phrase has existed and was misunderstood. To tell you the truth, everyone humorists, because there is a depressing ingredient, not intense, it is like being asleep. It doesn’t matter if you feel empty after a good show, even if it pays well. All this laughter, the applause and all you give, and when after that there is an empty theater and you are tired with a bag on your shoulder, the towel or the second sweatshirt, and you go to find something casual to eat. go to the hotel or to another city in the other show εις You feel empty. I am not saying this to reduce prostitution. You feel “empty”. You feel like you gave your energy and your comedy or whatever talent there is for the money. That you gave it your all, that you have some money, you should go to sleep now. The sequels are a bit awkward for comedians. The aftermath is difficult to handle.
– Is it true that you always have a basketball in your car?
Yes! To tell the truth because I miss the part of amateur sports with everything we went through, even on the set of “Taxi” I see stadiums and I think I miss it a lot.
– Are you a person who follows a healthy lifestyle?
I don’t smoke, alcohol a little but I don’t have a healthy life because I eat more meat and more nonsense than I should but at some point all the doctors cut it down anyway. I’m not playing the healthy lifestyle life coach, I’m just paying a little attention. I like my clothes and I don’t want to change them!
– What do we expect from you next?
I am currently writing about when they will open theaters in the show part. I never have a plan. There are too many jobs to think about what I will do. I just try to be active and above all I try to participate in everything that happens around us. To say my opinion. I don’t like to say anything about what is happening so as not to upset people. I think that whoever feels dissatisfied on my part by a contrary opinion, will appreciate me more. I believe that.
– You are a person who moves in media areas and you have seen everything that happens in the artistic and sports fields with the complaints of abusive behavior and sexual harassment. Have you seen or accepted abusive behavior?
I have neither seen nor accepted. Their children live comedy Yes, we are in theaters, but they give it to us with a sound engineer and a caretaker. We have no company or friction with people whose names we see to be on one side or the other. I can speak, but I am able to know the relationship between comedians, who sublet a theater.
They are going well. I’m sure it is better that they came out now and not then, because I am very afraid that the way those who made this move move, they would more easily bury them without the power of the internet that exists now. Internet with its speed has taken everything faster, has revealed more, exposed them more and helps more in the field of justice. Justice, I mean in the eyes of the world. In addition to normal Justice, because we are talking about the part of actors, artists, etc., dealing with the world, the world will do justice in the end.
I am not in favor of the popular courts, I am not saying this to God. I mean the duration part. Because if someone has done these abominations and in 4-5 years is out, this person will only be punished by the world, if he leaves the sidelines and never works again. The world will be the only judge. We in the world are leading and I think he will be the one who will give the free shot. But everything must be stricter in the Justice part and we should definitely look at the part of the statute of limitations for such acts. It is unthinkable. Society does not accept someone who has raped someone, and I mean the part that “cuts” your way with phrases “if you don’t do this you won’t find a job.” This occupational sexual threat should not expire in 15 years. It changes a person’s life and soul. Mental trauma is never prohibited by law.
