Genomic analysis was completed on 487 new samples selected for the period from January 5, 2021 to February 18, 2021. The samples come from the regions of East Macedonia and Thrace, Central Macedonia and Attica and the regional units of Mytilene and Kalymos , Kalymos. A total of 242 strains with worrisome variants emerged from the control.

Of the 242 strains, 226 were found with the B.1.1.7 / UK lineage mutation (VariantVOC_202012), 12 strains were found with the LineageB.1.351 / South Africa (Variant501V2) mutation while one strain was found with the Lineage A mutation. 23.1 / Uganda (Table 3).

A total of 990 positive for the presence of the B.1.1.7 / UK lineage mutation (VOC_202012 variant) (Table 4) and 27 positive for the presence of the B.1.351 / South Africa mutation (501V2 variant) have been identified from the launch of the National Genomic Surveillance Network for SARS-CoV-2 mutations to date.

The 12 positives for the presence of the B.1.351 / South Africa lineage mutation (Variant 501V2) are all domestic, all come from the Thessaloniki Regional Unit. The positive with the presence of the Lineage A.23.1 / Uganda mutation is domestic and comes from the Central Unit of the Central Sector of Athens.
