The matter of Dimitris Koufontinas with the president of the Court of Appeals, Panagiotis Lymperopoulos, is causing a disturbance in the Judicial Power, to oppose the Judges Union for the position he assumed.
In a post on his personal Facebook profile, the President of the Court of Appeals and former member of the Board of the Union of Judges and Prosecutors, Panagiotis Lymperopoulos, spoke on the issue of Dimitris Koufontinas. In his message, Lymperopoulos states that the fears he expressed when he resigned from the Union in September 2020 were confirmed.
At the same time, he commented that the principle of separation of the Functions of the State is violated and the personal and functional independence of the Judicial and Fiscal Functions is violated.
«Sevastidis’ public stance in favor of a specific convict is not just a proxy. It constitutes an institutional deviation. It violates the principle of discrimination of the Functions of the State and threatens the personal and functional independence of the Judicial and Fiscal Officials, who attend or attend the pertinent cases.
