Actor George Papapavlou spoke about harassment by a well-known person from the theater, when he was 22 years old.

In his show Natalia Germanou “Better not do it” at noon on Sunday (2/14) he spoke or George Papapavlou and described her own experience in the context of the allegations of sexual harassment that came to light. The actor expressed solidarity with all the women and men who came out to report what had happened to them.

From his own experience the actor George Papapavlou He said: “I gave my diploma exams to the Ministry of Culture and this man was on the committee. He asked for my phone number after the exam under the pretext of a piece of paper.. I went to his house, there he began to tell me some things about the role of the project and then the conversation began to turn the other way. He started telling me about other actors who were hot names and he told me he was with him and at some point I started to realize he was going elsewhere. He made a violent movement towards me. He reached through my pants under my shorts. I was surprised, attracted, and laughed. I stayed in this house for another half hour because it was frozen. I didn’t realize what happened.

It took me over a week to find out what had happened. Of course I didn’t go to this show. I wanted to give this testimony and say that because many ask “why now” why now can they listen to us because now there are many who have suffered these and come forward.

We know that a case can be buried, but not a river, and we must leave behind practices that belong to another century. The art of theater is an art made by people and directed at people. Not from monsters and abusers, not from people who insult your dignity. I sympathize. My case is very slight in relation to what we hear. Well done to everyone who reached out.

It was very violent and what they say because the victim “did not leave”, psychologists say much better than me. The victim can freeze, as the hare freezes in the light of the hunter. We also will not give a time when the victim will come out to speak so that she is ready and goes out to speak with the victim.

The alleged perpetrators must go to court and sue for defamation. Our space is made up of enlightened people and what the public sees is a minority because this minority had positions of power. If one cannot Responsible in your conscience there should be a law to hold everyone accountable.

This man has retired but he has done the same with others, I know from colleagues. I was 22 and he was 65 then. A very big man, with a very long career. and in state theaters, “he said George Papapavlou.
