A fully educational rally is taking place in central Athens, against the bill of the Ministry of Education, whereas before there were incidents between students and police forces, in front of the monument of the Unknown Soldier.
The protesters’ demands are the withdrawal of the higher education bill, the withdrawal of Law 4692/2020 and the Ministerial Decision for the evaluation attempt. They demand that all necessary steps be taken now to keep schools running in a healthy and safe manner.
With the central motto “No to Kerameos bill, no thought of university police – disciplinary eliminations”, the protesters first met at the Propylaea and addressed Parliament.
There were even tensions between the protesters and the police forces.
Those gathered react to the bill that brings changes in the form of admission to universities, as well as the establishment of a special police team in universities, as well as on a number of other issues.
OLME and ILO characterize the bill as “anti-educational” and criticize the leadership of the Ministry of Education for “authoritarianism”, “indifference to educational reality” and “arbitrariness in decision-making.”
At this time, traffic on the streets around the center of Athens has stopped, while the metro station “University” remains closed by order of the Police.
