The discussions of the Committee of Experts are long, which according to information has already decided to propose new restrictive measures for Attica and for some other areas of the country, where there is an increase in the epidemiological burden of coronavirus. The experts’ suggestions were decided when the “subcommittee” of epidemiologists ruled last night, that the area should now be included in the “red.
According to the information, the specific measures for the stricter closure in Attica, which are expected to be announced in the afternoon as part of the periodic briefing on the epidemic, by the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalia, are:
- High schools are opening across the country, while high schools are open only in areas that have not been classified as “red.” So in Attica a course for high school students with distance education. The government had made it clear that its objective is for schools to be open and it appears that the commission is giving the green light to the decision made by the Ministry of Education.
- When it comes to retail, stores go back to the click-in-store process, but they also click, that is, by appointment. The measure will probably be implemented immediately starting tomorrow, Saturday, 1/30.
- Hair salons and nail salons will also be open as usual by appointment.
- OPAP agencies are expected to open as provided in the relevant decision 1/2, but not in the red areas.
- Regarding the traffic hours of citizens, the commission has not yet ruled, but it does not seem to suggest the extension of the traffic ban from 18.00 to 5 in the morning, in order to keep the situation as it is, that is, a ban. from 9:00 p.m.
The reasons why the Committee of Experts proceeded with these recommendations have to do with the increase in cases. Particularly:
The 7-day moving average of new cases was 625, when the previous day was 595, on 1/26 it was 546 and on 1/22 it was 463, showing a very large increase, which is attributed to Attica .
At the same time, as the professor of infectious diseases Mr. Nikos Sypsas said the day before yesterday, the Rt transmissibility index in Attica is estimated at 0.98%, but capturing the image of the epidemic a few days before and today it is estimated above 1 event, a level that generally signifies alarm.
At the same time, the pressure on the NSS does not appear to be easing as, according to reports from Minister Vassilis Kikilias, ICU beds in Attica are occupied at a rate of 63%. It is worth mentioning that in the last few days in an entire country the income balance in relation to hospital discharges has been upset, as for example on January 27 we had 135 new admissions and 111 discharges for healing and yesterday also 135 admissions and only 100 discharges .
Likewise, the number of ICU patients due to covid is approximately 140 in Attica in the last three days, that is, 50% of the total, while there is a small increase in the total number of patients in the Territory, in individual beds, They have reached 1040.
