The members of the educational community who met in the Propylaea and have already reached the Constitution, are holding a protest meeting against the changes brought by the bill of the Ministry of Education and refers both to the creation of a University Police as well as the change in the form of admission to Higher Education.
The Panepistimio metro station is closed by order of the Police.
The Federation of Officials of Secondary Education (OLME) and the Hellenic Federation of Teachers (COI) demand the immediate withdrawal of the bill Κεραμέως.
In particular, OLME opposes the introduction of a minimum base for admission to higher education, since, as it affirms, “more barriers are established for the children of popular families to study”, while regarding the university police , highlights that it forms a regime of repression and surveillance.
The ILO, for its part, is talking about further reducing the educational rights of students and the labor rights of teachers. He claims that all protection measures for the schools in the mask and the hermit crab have been exhausted, while speaking of the degradation of the public school by the Ministry of Education and the strengthening of repression and authoritarianism. Finally, he denounces the undemocratic fall of the government that imposes the prohibition of meetings of more than 100 people.
The student associations, in their call, demand the immediate withdrawal of the bill, noting, among other things: For a year, the government has not taken any measures for the safe reopening of our schools. (…) Instead of providing solutions, the government prefers to give 30 million euros for the creation of a University Police! The objective of establishing this body is to repress the voice, the claim and the struggle. After all, this is demonstrated by the disciplinary changes that provide up to 3 years in prison for students who celebrate General Assemblies, mobilizations in schools and institutions! (…) The government, which is in charge of delaying our studies for a year, dares to threaten us with expulsion. (…) What we need is not the cameras and the police, but open schools and high-level studies! “
Members of the educational community have already reached the Constitution.
