For information indicating the involvement of a professional fishing vessel in the accident in which Sifis Valyrakis lost her life, Mina Papatheodorou-Valyrakis’s wife speaks in a letter sent to the Minister of Navigation, Giannis Plakiotakis.
The wife of the deceased points out, among other things, that “the people of the small community of Eretria speak and can present to the local authority evidence of the participation of a professional fishing vessel, which means that the version of homicide is strong, if not sure.”
According to information, the wife of the deceased speaks of testimonies that describe a fight, before the former minister fell into the sea.
“We ask you to act immediately to expedite the investigations so that oblivion and concealment do not prevail,” he concludes in his letter. Testimonies there was harassment of the vessel.
The family postponed the former minister’s funeral, which had been announced for tomorrow, Wednesday January 27, at the Papagos cemetery.
According to the information, there is a statement in the port confirming what Ms Valyraki wrote. The family appointed an expert and the port is conducting an investigation to determine the veracity of the complaints and locate the people who were on board the fishing vessel. Indeed, according to the information, Mr. Plakiotakis contacted Ms. Valyraki and assured her that both the Eretria Port Authority and the Chalkida Port Authority, which are investigating the case, will consider all possibilities.
Medical Examiner Finding
It is recalled that serious craniocerebral injuries caused the death of Sifi Valyraki, according to the conclusion of the forensic doctor, Nikos Lalogrias, who examined the body of the former minister.
It is concluded that the death of Sifi Valyrakis was caused by the propeller of his ship, since for an unknown reason it fell into the sea.
The coroner also identified injuries to the left side of the neck, as well as signs of drowning, which, however, is characterized as a secondary cause of death.
Mr. Kalogrias did not learn that he had suffered a heart attack before.
It is recalled that Sifis Valyrakis was found dead Sunday night by the body of the port in the Eretria sea zone near the small island of Pezonisi in Eretria.
Previously, his inflatable boat was stranded near the islet of Aspronisi, the motor of the boat was working normally, while inside the boat were two rifles.
The Coast Guard operation to locate the former minister began on Sunday afternoon with the participation of two private boats and launches from a Navy helicopter and a team from the Submarine Missions Unit. The wife had previously communicated with the port authorities during which she reported that she was missing.
