Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte submitted his resignation to President Sergio Matarella.
This maneuver by the Italian Prime Minister, which was already expected last night, when he had convened a Council of Ministers to announce his intention.

Matarella called on the government to continue managing the present until this political crisis is resolved.
As it was known from the Kyrinalio presidential palace, the Italian president’s consultations will begin tomorrow, Wednesday afternoon. In these consultations, the participation of parliamentary representatives of the parties and possibly their leaders is only expected, due to the low participation imposed by the coronavirus prevention measures.
At the same time, it remains to be seen whether Giuseppe Conte will be able to secure a new term to form a government with greater parliamentary support and whether the gap created by Matteo Renzi’s Italia Viva party can be bridged.
Otherwise, President Matarella, if he finds that the necessary consensus exists, can follow the path that leads to the formation of a government of national unity with limited programmatic priorities.
