The first Greek F-16 to be upgraded to the Viper version at the ODA made its maiden flight a complete success, according to Defense Minister Nikos Panayotopoulos.

In a related announcement, ODA stated: “As part of the first phase of the Air Force F-16 Viper version aircraft upgrade program conducted by Hellenic Aviation Industry and Lockheed Martin, the aircraft’s first test flight took place today. now improved. During the test flight, the aircraft’s improved systems were verified with absolute success, giving the impetus for the smooth continuation of work and the remainder to be upgraded from the Air Force aircraft. It is noted that these works improvements were carried out within the planned schedule, without any deviation ”.

It is recalled that the entire contract signed by F-16 update amounts to around $ 1.1 billion. The stated goal of ODA and Lockheed Martin is for the program to be completed by the end of 2027.
