The 24-year-old who dove into the waters of Amarynthos with his friends to catch the cross and hit its neck remains in critical condition.
The 24-year-old along with his father and two other friends, wanting to celebrate Epiphany, arrived from Drosia, where they live, in Amarynthos. They were thrown from a platform into the water, with the result that the 24-year-old hit his head and neck.
EKAB immediately rushed to the scene, which initially transported him to Chalkida hospital. However, due to the seriousness of his condition, it was deemed necessary to transport him to the KAT.
Doctors found that the 24-year-old suffered a complete quadriplegia from the blow. He was immediately operated on and was transferred to the intensive care unit, where he remains intubated.
The incident has shocked the local Drosia community in Evia.
The 24-year-old has supported his brother, who has a serious health problem, while on Christmas Eve he became a bone marrow donor.
