The opposition to the plans to open schools of all levels as of January 11 is the Infectious Diseases Committee consulted by the government.
According to the information, during today’s meeting it was decided to suggest only the opening of the structures of the first level, that is, only the primary schools, kindergartens and nurseries on January 11.
They also decided to review the epidemiological data next week, in order to make a decision for secondary education (baccalaureate and high schools).
However, yesterday former government spokesman Stelios Petsas was quick to announce that the schools will open on January 11. This was the official excuse for the extension of the confinement and even the reestablishment of tougher measures that were in force before the holidays.
In fact, St. Petsas stated that “it is obvious that with this maneuver of the government, the experts of the committee are facilitated in their decisions.”
