Angelos Syrigos: This is the new Deputy Minister of Education

The portfolio of the Vice Minister of Education, in charge of Higher Education, was assumed by the MP of ND, Angelos syrigos after him reorganization.

Mr. Syrigos, Associate Professor of International Law and Foreign Policy at Panteion University, was born in Athens in 1966. He graduated from the University of Athens School of Law and holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Bristol, while working at Cambridge University in 1993.), for the Council of Europe and as a lawyer for the Athens Bar Association.

He served as Secretary General in the Ministry of the Interior responsible for immigration and citizenship (2012-2015) and as Special Secretary in the Ministry of National Education and Religions (2007-2009) responsible for Greek children abroad and Muslim children in Thrace.

He has held positions of responsibility in matters of foreign policy, minorities, transparency and telecommunications. He was awarded in 1992 by the Academy of Athens for his work related to the delimitation of the continental shelf.

During his military service he was honored with a commendation from the 4th Army Corps in Thrace for his services to the minority in Thrace and with an Honorable Mention from the Army General Staff for his contribution to the creation of the Pomak-Greek dictionary.

He has written books on Greek-Turkish relations., the Cyprus subject, recently for the Prespa Agreement, regularly writes articles in the press and comments on foreign policy issues in the media.

He was elected for the first time deputy in the Parliament of Athens with New Democracy on 7 July 2019. He is a member of the Standing Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs and the Special Standing Committee on European Affairs of the Greek Parliament, as well as a member of the Delegation Greek in Parliament. Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA).
