Speaking to SKAI, Demosthenes Sarigiannis, the director of the Iraklis research center and professor of Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, spoke about the opening of schools at the end of January.
“Attica is not in danger of going ‘red’ immediately, but towards the end of January, when schools will open, there is a negative dynamic in Attica, while we also need to pay attention to the lights,” Sarigiannis explained.
“At Christmas and the next day we had a duplication of active contacts, we had a reduction in the implementation of the measures by at least 20% from December 24 to yesterday, we must be careful,” he said. Based on the above, “we expect an increase in cases, not dramatic, but we expect it,” clarified Mr. Sarigiannis.
He also predicted that the third wave would arrive at the end of February. “It depends on how we do the opening, not on when,” the professor clarified.
