Less parties, less garbage… The garbage cans on the famous Copacabana beach in Rio, Brazil were pleasantly surprised today, as the volume of garbage they had to collect was reduced by 89%. New Year’s Eve 2020, after a New Year’s Eve with fewer people due to the new coronavirus pandemic.
City officials collected 39 tons of trash from the famous beach after a quiet New Year’s Eve party, a number far less than the 351 tons collected last year, Comlurb said today.
Across the city, cleaners collected 194 tons of trash, 75% less than a year ago, according to the same services.
