Bakoyannis: Surprising that we remember the time change in Athens – Citizens should look up | HELLAS

The Athens City Council wants to send a message of optimism to this year’s time change, as stressed by Costas Bakogiannis.

Speaking to OPEN TV, the mayor of Athens said that the 2021 reception will be a surprise to citizens and that we will remember the change tonight.

“Using technology, with lighting, with video projections, with technology, we want to tell the story of 2020, but we also believe that this will be the story of 2021, that is, they beat us, but we hurt ourselves, but we got up,” he said and He continued: “We want to be something different that brings us closer even though we are far away, I think it will be a change of time that we will remember because it is not typical.” As he revealed, the surprise will begin at 11:45 and he said he wants to believe that “at 12:05 we will all feel better.” Finally he advised the citizens to look up.

Commenting on the decoration of Athens this year, he said: “We managed to extend the lighting as much as possible in the city, 35 neighborhoods have Christmas trees for the first time.”

Costas Bakogiannis also spoke about the plans of the Municipality in many areas of the capital, where cooperation with the Ministry of Culture is required: “It is a very important infrastructure project that we do with great care and respect. Next are Lycabettus, Strefi Hill, but we also have Philopappos Hill and Plato’s Academy. The Ministry of Culture has the first word, but I don’t think anyone wants to transfer the responsibilities elsewhere, we have submitted a proposal to the Ministry for several weeks. There is a delay, but I think that soon we will achieve what we want, that is, our cooperation, we are ready to finance a large part of the project but also to do the work to give these areas the place they deserve ”.
