Additional restrictive measures were imposed in Kalymnos until Saturday, January 9, due to the increase in coronavirus cases.

The island’s mayor, Dimitris Diakomichalis, spoke of at least 80 confirmed cases of coronavirus, noting, however, that the 4-5 cores from which the cases originated have been identified and all are in quarantine.

Regarding the occurrence of dozens of cases, Mr. Diakomichalis pointed out that on the island there are many antivirus deniers who did not implement the measures, adding that Christmas in some churches was celebrated with a large crowd, while many neighborhoods celebrated en masse.

“Unfortunately, there were many deniers on the island who did not implement the prescribed protocols. Christmas here was celebrated at least in the churches part with a large attendance, people. Unfortunately.” On the other hand, there were crowds and conglomerates in some areas they were poorly controlled despite the calls, “he told SKAI.

“In Kalymnos, some areas operate in a traditional way, one household can be transferred to another, it is not a question of compromises,” he said.
