Petros Katsilieris was born in 1947 in Mikromani, Kalamata and studied Mathematics at the University of Athens. In 1982 he began his political career from the local government as a Kalamata councilor (with the faction of the then mayor Stavros Benos), he served as deputy mayor and also as mayor.
He was elected deputy for Messenia for the first time in the 1989 elections with the PASOK ballot and was re-elected in the 1993, 1996, 2000 and 2004 elections.
