Data on when schools will open after the Christmas holidays will be discussed at today’s remote meeting of the Committee of Specialists and the Minister of Education, Niki Kerameos.
The teleconference will begin later in the afternoon and announcements are expected in the afternoon.
The objective of the Ministry of Education is – if epidemiological data allow it – to open school units after January 7, when the restrictive measures that are in force formally expire.

“Elementary schools are much safer. The committee will discuss when they will open today,” said EKPA Professor of Pathological Physiology of Infections Nikos Sypsas.
Both Mr. Sypsas and other members of the Committee state that with current data, schools can be opened safely. However, as the professor said, what scares him is an epidemic outbreak.
