“On December 26, Greece received 9,700 doses, the same as the rest of the EU countries, regardless of the population of each country,” said Marios Themistokleous, Secretary General of Primary Care at the Ministry of Health, adding that their storage it was located in the center of Attica. “Deep freeze” and from there the distribution was made to the 5 Attica hospitals and “today the distribution was made to the 4 hospitals in the region.”

“Until 4:00 pm 471 people were vaccinated today in the 5 reference hospitals in Athens,” said Mr. Themistokleous, while an incident of “non-serious allergic reaction that was successfully treated” was reported, about which the Secretary General reported “faithful to the commitment” of “detailed information with absolute transparency.”

The vaccines continue tomorrow in the hospitals of Athens, while the vaccines begin in the 4 hospitals in the region, namely the University of Larissa, the AHEPA in Thessaloniki, the University of Ioannina and the University of Patras.

Likewise, “tomorrow, December 29, we will receive the first large batch from Pfizer, 83,850 doses, which will be distributed in the 5 central storage points so that from there they can be distributed to the hospital vaccination centers,” Mr. Themistokleous stressed.

By the end of March, we will have received 1,255,800 doses from Pfizer and this figure is likely to rise if the EU reaches an agreement on 100 million additional doses, ”said the Secretary General for Primary Care in the Ministry of Health.

In addition, “to these fees will be added Moderna deliveries that are expected to be approved by the European Medicines Agency on January 6 and will amount to 240,000 for the first quarter of 2021”.
