Britain and Turkey will sign the Third Free Trade Agreement, the first after securing a trade agreement with the European Union.
The two countries will sign an agreement reiterating the current trade terms between Ankara and London, but British Trade Minister Lis Trace expressed optimism that a special agreement between the two parties will soon be reached.
“The agreement that we hope to sign this week” secures “agreements for duty-free trade and will help our business relationship.” It will provide security for thousands of jobs in the UK, manufacturing, automotive and automotive steel”.
“We now look forward to working with Turkey on an ambitious and personalized agreement in the near future,” he added.
The value of this business relationship amounted to $ 25.25 billion in 2019 and Britain said it was the fifth largest trade deal negotiated by the relevant ministry, after those with Japan, Canada, Switzerland and Norway.
In total, London has already signed trade deals with 62 countries, with a view to ending the Brexit transition period on January 1, when it will withdraw from EU trade deals.
