Elias Atmatzidis passed away at age 57
THE Elias Atmatzidis, one of his great soccer figures Μακεδονικού, passed away at the age of 57, mourning the Greek community football. He is one of the footballers who starred in the excellent Makedonikos course in the 80s, reaching up to First National. According to the Thessaloniki media, Atmatzidis had fallen ill with coronavirus.
THE Elias Atmatzidis, who played as a defense, was acquired by Hermes Neapoleos and played with the Makedonikos jersey both in the Second National and in the team that participated in the First National Championship in 1982-83 season, which, however, did not remain in the category due to restructuring. Defeated by Panionios in a draw at Volos and was relegated. However, that team, despite its short passage from the big leagues, left its mark as not only was it not defeated but it did not even concede a goal in home games with the greats of Greek football: Panathinaikos (3-0), Olympic (0-0), AEK (1-0), PAOK (0-0), Mars (1-0) and Hercules (1-0)!
