Video: About 100 people in the episodes in Aspropyrgos

Some 100 people gathered on Genoktonias Street, as will be heard in the video that follows, creating tension as they threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at the police.

In the video below, two loud explosions are heard, while flames are visible from the point of confrontation between neighbors and police in Aspropyrgos.

Tensions erupted in Aspropyrgos five days ago, on December 20, when a group of about 60 young people, most of them minors, who appeared to be in denial of the coronavirus and restrictive measures due to the pandemic, attacked the police forces.

Extension of the severe blockade in West Attica

Since coronavirus cases do not decrease in West Attica and Kozani, yesterday it was decided to extend the blockade in these areas until December 30.

This decision was based entirely on epidemiological data and primarily on the fact that the number of active cases in these areas remains high.

Specifically, on 12-17-2020 (the day the additional restrictive measures began) in the Municipality of Aspropyrgos there were 166 active cases, in the Municipality of Elefsina 65 active cases and in the Municipality of Mandra-Eidyllia 30 active cases, while that until last night the number of active cases were 178, 77 and 27 respectively.
