Michael Jackson’s famous Neverland Ranch was finally sold in California at a much lower price than the original.
The ranch was sold more than 10 years after the death of the pop star, who had abandoned it after being accused of sexually abusing young children in this house.
Billionaire investor Ron Barkle, a former friend of the Jackson family, recently purchased the 11,000-acre property, his spokesman revealed today.
The Wall Street Journal writes that the Chicago Valley Ranch, as it was renamed a few years ago, sold for $ 22 million. In 2015 it was for sale for 100 million, while two years later the price dropped to 67 million, after no buyer was found.
A Barclays spokesman said the businessman bought it as an investment. He saw it from the air while researching elsewhere and contacted the founder of real estate investment firm Colony Capital LLC to buy it.
Michael Jackson, who died of an anesthetic overdose in 2009 at the age of 50, bought the ranch, located in Los Angeles, about 190 miles north of Los Angeles, for $ 19.5 million in 1988. Financial difficulties, he delivered the title to Colony Capital LLC in 2008.
At Neverland, Michael Jackson hosted young children, one of whom accused him of sexual abuse a few years later. Although he was acquitted at his trial in 2005, he vowed never to return to the ranch.
