Koronovios – All the news: The measures that will be in effect during Christmas days were announced during the official briefing on Tuesday 12/22 by the Vice Minister of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias. Compliance with the measures will determine the course of the confinement and the lifting of restrictions.
This year we will celebrate Christmas differently, due to the coronavirus pandemic, which does not seem to stop. For this reason, as announced by the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Nikos Hardalias, this year we will celebrate with extensive and intensive controls, a limited number of people (up to 9 people) at the festive table and without Christmas carols.
The Undersecretary stressed the need for everyone to continue to be very careful, so that we do not find ourselves after the holidays with a new outbreak of the pandemic.
In fact, he made it clear that citizens will not go to New Year’s Eve or gather in large groups to celebrate, as in other years, while pointing out that around the festive table -if we are not alone with our family- 2 families can gather . and up to 9 people – the same families – as he said “these days we have to keep our circle as limited as possible”.
In full force the traffic ban 10pm – 5am
He also recalled that the ban on traffic from 10 at night to 5 in the morning will remain in force during the holidays, without exception of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
The only “exception”, as he mentioned, on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be in the range of controls that will be carried out throughout the country and especially in large urban centers and areas with a high epidemiological burden. “The Greek police and control mechanisms will be everywhere, especially during curfew hours, that is, 10 in the afternoon and 5 in the morning,” he said.
He also clarified that children this year will not be able to go out to sing Christmas carols, since apart from the fact that this year everything will be different, there is no movement for this reason.
Regarding places of worship now, he recalled that it is allowed to perform services in the presence of believers at Christmas, New Years and Lights, that is, on December 25, January 1 and January 6. Inside the place of worship 1 person is allowed for every 15 square meters. with 2 meters of distance between people in each direction. The maximum number of attendees is 25 people, while in the case of Metropolitan Churches 50 people. At the same time, it is noted that wearing a protective mask is mandatory when staying in the place of worship.
Different Christmas all over Europe
“It is clear that the celebrations this year will be special, since the current measures do not allow us to celebrate in the way we would like. However, they are necessary and important for the protection of public health and the protection of human life, the protection of the people we love and love us, ”stressed Mr. Hardalias.
He also said that this Christmas will be different in Europe, since many countries have decided not to lift measures in anticipation of the holidays, adding that even countries that have opened shops and restaurants, such as the United Kingdom, have been forced to close. again, to avoid a new outbreak of the pandemic after the holidays.
Regarding the mutation of the virus that has been detected in the United Kingdom, Mr. Hardalias stressed that these new data led to the update of the aviation directive (notam) that applies to arrivals from this country to our country. So, from this morning to January 7, those coming to Greece from the UK are subject to a rapid test and a mandatory ten-day precautionary restriction at their home or temporary place of residence indicated on the PLF form.
To be quarantined, those arriving from the UK will have to undergo a new PCR test at the end of the 10-day period, which will be negative to lift the mandatory police-controlled precautionary restriction. At the same time, the obligation of all foreign travelers, including travelers from the UK, to have a 72-hour negative molecular test (PCR) and to complete the PLF form to enter the country remains in force.
Regarding the epidemiological picture presented by the Kozani Regional Unit and Western Attica, in the Kozani Regional Unit there are currently 367 active cases, the average age of which is 54 years. The 477 high-risk close contacts of the cases, which resulted from the follow-up process, are also under house arrest. 79.52% of the cases present primary or secondary symptoms, 47.58% in the first case and 31.94% in the second.
As for the panorama in Western Attica, as Mr. Hardalias said, despite the intense inter-municipal mobility of active cases in recent weeks, which has greatly disturbed them, “the radical and selective revisions of the EODY stairs in recent days show that fortunately there does not seem to be a dispersion and particularly extensive epidemiological clusters that act as multipliers in the area. Currently in the municipality of Aspropyrgos there are 179 active cases, in the municipality of Elefsina 78 and in the municipality of Mandra-Eidyllia 25. Regarding whether there will be an extension of restrictive measures in these areas, Mr. Hardalias said that they monitor in detail and evaluate All the data in daily and on Thursday the epidemiologists will be informed so that they can make their own suggestions on the extension or not of the extra strict restrictive measures that apply until the early hours of Friday.
Then he called on the inhabitants of these areas to continue implementing the measures in their entirety, so that they can proceed with their removal as soon as possible.
“It should be clear to all that our decisions were based, are based and will continue to be based on the complex epidemiological data of each region alone,” he noted.
Call compliance
Finally, he called on all citizens of the country to consistently follow the measures in the coming days, in order to avoid any deterioration of epidemiological data immediately after the holidays. “We celebrate this Christmas in a different way, so that we can celebrate again with all our loved ones in no time, without losing anyone,” concluded Mr. Hardalias.
In addition, Mr. Hardalias, responding to a relevant question, clarified that if citizens do not impose discipline on Christmas, there is a case for additional measures to be taken on New Year’s Eve.
When asked if there was an official suggestion to take action earlier in northern Greece that was not accepted by the government, Hardalias said that “the government has been fighting this battle with the local government since the beginning of the pandemic. The interest of the mayors, our self-government is close to the citizens, the interest of the government is of the citizens, we are all fighting this battle together. We discuss, analyze, advance with specific policies. Everyone has their part to answer the relative policy questions to measures or initiatives for the coronavirus and at the end of all this battle, all those who will be victorious are the citizens themselves. The battle is common, the effort is common and when we fight this battle, what interests us is not to enter into artificial confrontations that are they cultivate but try to find solutions to all the problems of each neighborhood separately ”.
Asked if there is quantitative data on the traces by place and type of collection and if bodies that acted as super transmitters, specific events and areas of super transmission have been identified, Hardalias said there are quantitative and detailed data. “It is true that from the first moment of the manifestation of this pandemic and in all its phases, and even bodies and places and events were identified and they are identified with clear signs of over-transmission, this is clear from the tracking. All this is evaluated with absolute respect for personal data. All these data are always the basis in terms of anonymized facts and figures for our epidemiologists to make relevant recommendations. “Obviously, there are all these elements that help us to take and evaluate the data in each area on a daily basis and try to seal small or large groups, small or large multipliers to avoid any over-transmission or outbreak of the pandemic in an area.” , make a note of.
