The Belgian Parliament adopted a resolution against Turkey’s role in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, according to today’s publication by the French-language Belgian newspaper La Libre.
The resolution, which was passed almost unanimously, called on Turkey to stop militarily intervening in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and highlighted the need to resume French and American diplomatic efforts to find a peaceful and lasting solution in the region. The French-speaking Labor Party PTB abstained.
Further, The Belgian Parliament rejects the official version of Baku, according to which the war started on September 27 due to the Armenian invasion and condemns the resumption of hostilities by Azerbaijan, as well as the “military aggression backed by the Turkish authorities and foreign mercenaries.”
Finally, according to the newspaper, action is requested from the Minsk Group, “the only internationally authorized body to facilitate negotiations with a view to a comprehensive and viable solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem.”
At the same meeting, Peter De Roover, MP for the Flemish nationalist N-VA, rejected a proposal for diplomatic relations with the self-proclaimed “Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh”.
