The Destani family emigrated to Germany in the 1970s and today, almost 50 years later, they are considered one of the richest families in Albania.
Lazim Destani, an Albanian businessman from Tetovo in North Macedonia, is a businessman, philanthropist, and advocate for the Albanian community.
He is also known for his work to promote the Western Balkans as an integral part of the European Idea.
Each year it distributes a portion of the profits from its businesses to charities, supporting cultural and educational programs, as well as those of the environment.
Among the most popular companies in the Destani family is Ecolog International, a subcontractor for peacekeeping missions around the world, which has completed more than 1,100 projects and is now active in more than 36 countries, based on a team of 12,000 employees in more than 150 countries around the world.
The founder of the company is considered to be the son of the Albanian tycoon, Nazif Destani, who is also the main shareholder of the company ND Group, which intends to build electric cars in Greece through the subsidiary Next e.GO Mobile.
Today, a significant part of the family’s investments is made through the Dutch group ND, which last August acquired the majority stake in the small German automaker e.GO Mobile, which went bankrupt in early April.
So last September a new company was created, Next e.GO Mobile, to which all the assets of the bankrupt predecessor based in Aachen were transferred.
Before taking an irreparable blow from the pandemic, e.GO Mobile was valued at close to a billion euros, although it was not announced how much ND Group paid to buy it.
The children of the Destani family
Nazif Destani, like Blerim’s brother, was born and raised in Germany.
Blerim spent his childhood in Tetovo.
It seems that he did not want to follow in the footsteps of his father and brother, choosing instead to get involved in show business and become an actor.
Full of ambition, he pursued his dreams, devoting his time and energy to acting.
At the age of 14 he made his debut in the Albanian television film Atje ku nuk lind dielli (Where the sun does not rise).
A few years later he decided to start producing documentaries while taking acting classes in England.
However, Blerim is not just an actor, he is very interested in the art of cinema and has already gained some experience in the fields of directing and production.
He was a co-producer of the successful North Macedonian film production The Great Water (directed by Ivo Trajkov), which was shot in 2004.
In 2005, The Great Water appeared at many prestigious festivals and received numerous awards.
KF Shkëndija football team
During the 2012-13 season, Shkëndija struggled financially and many of its players left the team as a result.
Shkëndija supporters Ballistas launched a campaign on social media asking Ecolog to take over the team.
On July 31, 2013, Lazim Destani announced that Ecolog International would take over Shkëndija.
Under the new management, Shkëndija bought more than five new players to the team, four days before the end of the season, while managing to correct the financial situation of the club.
In the second half of the season, the team made a drastic improvement by going from eighth to fourth at the end of the season, winning the last seven games in a row.
Shkendija earned a spot in the 2014-15 UEFA Europa League first qualifying round.
