Attorneys general from 38 US and US territories today brought Google attorneys for antitrust lawsuits, accusing the popular search engine of distorting competition practices in managing ads.
“The United States claims that Google illegally maintains its monopoly power over search engines and related advertising markets through a series of anti-competitive behavior and contracts,” said a statement from the Colorado Attorney General, who is leading the lawsuit.
States seek redress from lawsuit filed by the US Department of Justice in October, according to the Colorado Attorney General.
In October, the US Department of Justice also filed a lawsuit against Google, accusing it of creating an “illegal monopoly” in Internet search and advertising. The company, founded in 1998, is accused of using (and abusing) various techniques to exclude its competitors from this market.
