New Years Eve: What Applies to Travel? Who can move to another prefecture?

There are less than ten days until Christmas and now it is clear that this year’s New Year’s Eve will not remember those of previous years.

The government has decided that meetings will only be allowed on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, up to 9 people from a maximum of 2 families.

At the same time, according to the Official Government Gazette published yesterday, although the prohibition to move from prefecture to prefecture remains in force, an exception is provided for specific categories:

a) To and from work
b) for health reasons
c) for the purpose of a one-time transfer to the place of permanent residence
d) to attend a ceremony (for example, funeral) under the conditions provided by law or to go to divorced parents or those who are in a necessary dimension to ensure communication between parents and children, in accordance with current provisions
e) for a one-time transfer of a student from the place of permanent residence to the regional unit where the Department / School of Health Sciences of the IES, the School of Officers or the Police School of the Hellenic Police or the School of Flag Police or the Coast Guard School of Port Guards – Hellenic Coast Guard for study purposes

Movement to and from the Samos Regional Unit of the North Aegean Region is excluded from the present application.
