Vaccine for coronavirus: 83% of those surveyed reject mandatory vaccination and only 14% support it.
Alone one in five Austrians wants to get vaccinated anyway against the coronavirus, while the vast majority of citizens refuse mandatory vaccination, as seen in a representative poll published today on behalf of the Austrian News Agency (APA) and the private television network ATV.
In the question about willingness to vaccinate and rated between zero (“definitely not”) and ten (“absolutely sure”), 29% said they would definitely not be vaccinated and only 17% “absolutely” want to receive the vaccine, while another 13% said they were willing to get vaccinated at “eight” or “nine” in the ranking.
In particular, voters in Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz’s ruling People’s Party say 24 percent say they will be “absolutely safe” from being vaccinated, as do those over 60 with 29 percent.
According to the “Austrian Trend” poll, which periodically examines the political mood of the population every two months, 83% of respondents reject compulsory vaccination and only 14% support it.
The population is also divided in the evaluation of the new measures that have entered into force since December 7., where a little more than a third (37%) consider them “correct”, another third (33%) consider them “too lazy” and a fifth (22%) perceive them as “too difficult”.
It is noteworthy that voters from the largest opposition party, the Social Democrat, as well as the smaller party, NEO, appear to support tougher measures than voters from the two ruling parties, the Popular and the Green.
In the poll, voters in the second opposition party, the far-right nationalist Free Party, overwhelmingly considered the measures “excessive” from the start.
