Italy has the highest number of deaths from the new coronavirus in Europe since the start of the epidemic, 64,036, taking Britain’s place in this tragic record.

Among the most affected countries (apart from very small states), Belgium regrets the highest number of deaths in the world in proportion to its population, with 154 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Peru (111) and Italy (106) and Spain (102). Britain has 94 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants.
