By order of the Regional Governor of Attica, G. Patoulis, the Civil Protection Mechanism of the Attica Region is in full swing to face the effects of the fire in a candle factory in the Municipality of Moschato Tavros, on Moschatou street fifteen.
By order of the Regional Governor of Attica, G. Patoulis, and after the pertinent consultations with the competent authorities, the entire mechanism of the Region is mobilized, while the Air Pollution Observatory of the Attica Region is activated immediately to begin measurements early in the morning. Furthermore, citizens are urged to take all necessary measures to protect their health (see the relevant instructions below).
The actions have been carried out to be coordinated by the Regional Deputy Minister of Civil Protection V. Kokkalis, in collaboration with the Deputy Director of Civil Protection of the Attica region G. Livadaros and the General Director of Sustainable Development and Climate Change A. Paraskevopoulou .
In his remarks, Attica Governor G. Patoulis said: “Our priority is to protect the health of citizens and restore the environment in the area affected by the fire that broke out at the factory. From the first moment, the mobilization of the Region is immediate, in order to guarantee the protection of citizens. With the help of renowned scientific bodies, we will begin the investigation of the effect of fire on the quality of the atmosphere, with specific sampling. We are closely monitoring the phenomenon and will do whatever it takes to better protect citizens. “
Citizen protection measures
Due to flammable materials and pollutants that have been created by ignition, citizens living in the wider area are urged to take steps to better protect their health.
Specifically, citizens are asked to:
1. Avoid exposure to the flow and streams of smoke to protect yourself from the effects of the fumes.
2. If you have respiratory or related health problems, please contact your doctor directly.
3. Keep the doors, windows and other openings of your facilities hermetically closed.
4. Remain in open or ventilated areas that are not affected by the event and its consequences.
5. Provide good ventilation of any space or facility that will be used after the fire is extinguished.
