The Ministry of Finance and Labor announced eight new measures after the expansion of the restrictions for the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
It was announced that the two-month extension of the payment of traffic charges, as well as the special purpose compensation for December, while the mandatory telework will be extended to at least 50% of the workforce. In addition, in January 2021, the Refundable Advance 5 will be delivered.
In particular, the announced measures are as follows
Employees of company-employers across the country who are affected according to the expanded list of KAD April, can be temporarily suspended from employment and are entitled to special purpose compensation, proportional to the period of suspension, estimated at 534 euros per month.
For the previous period, the full insurance contributions are calculated proportionally, calculated on the nominal salary of the State Budget. The companies, during the suspension of the employment contract of the employees and for an equal period after the lifting of the suspension, are obliged to maintain the same number of employees. For companies that are closed by order of a public authority, the employment contract of employees is obligatorily suspended and as long as the suspension is valid, dismissals are invalid.
For companies whose operation is suspended by order of public authority within the month, it is possible to suspend the payment of the installments of the regulated tax and insurance debts, payable in December, and their reimbursement is postponed to the corresponding installments at the end of the regulations in force.
For employees whose employment contract is suspended, it is possible to suspend the payment of the installments of the regulated tax debts that are payable in December, and their amortization is postponed to the corresponding installments at the end of the current regulations.
Suspension of payment of bank loan installments continues based on KAD’s expanded list, in consultation with the Hellenic Banking Association, until the end of the year.
As announced and is already being implemented, all unemployment benefits that expire in September, October, November and December are extended by two months.
Mandatory telework extends to the entire territory at least 50% of the workforce, in the public and private sectors, with the exception of activities in which there is an objective impossibility of teleworking. The measure of mandatory application of flexibility of arrival and departure of private sector employees in their work is expanded, with the corresponding adjustment of their schedule, for the areas of greatest risk.
All affected companies according to KAD April’s expanded list are entitled to a mandatory 40% rent reduction on their December commercial properties. The same applies to the primary residence of employees suspended from employment and the student residence of their dependent members.
For the owners who rent real estate in these companies and the aforementioned employees, and in December, 50% of their loss will be paid to the beneficiaries and will be credited to their bank accounts.
The Refundable Advance 5 will be granted in January 2021, based on the fall in billing September-December 2020. 50% of the aid is non-refundable, provided that the same level of employment is maintained until the end of June 2021. All companies will be able to participate, as long as they meet the criteria for falling turnover.
Additionally, new businesses that opened in September and October will be eligible to participate. The amount of the aid determined by the mathematical formula to be applied will take into account the entire September-December period and will be adjusted according to the amount received by the companies in the Refundable Advance.
In this way, those who were unable to request the Refundable Advance 4 have the opportunity to receive aid for the entire amount, as well as to make the necessary adjustments to the data entered in the previous state.
Payment of the 2021 transit fees is extended for two months, until February 26, 2021.
