Heavy rains in Thessaloniki caused serious problems. At one point, the road collapsed due to bad weather.
A main road in Thessaloniki was affected by the heavy rains that hit the city earlier and caused several roads and sidewalks to turn into rivers.
In particular, as can be seen in the video and photos from GRTimes.gr, the reversal of part of the road took place on Alexandrou Svolou street, on the left side of the road, with the traffic being handled with special beware of drivers.
According to a local trader, the incident occurred around 12:30 pm on Monday (07.12.2020) without any accident or injury.
The competent service of the Municipality of Thessaloniki rushed to the site to take appropriate actions for the restoration of the sinking and the placement of a warning sign.
It should be noted that the strong winds that blew into the area caused tree branches to break, leaves to fall and be swept away, leading to blockages of wells and flooding of several roads and sidewalks.
In addition, the garbage containers were moved by the strong wind, while in some areas there were power outages.
At the same time, several highways, including in the city center of Thessaloniki, turned into rivers, creating problems in vehicle traffic and making it difficult for pedestrians to move.
