Human traps, falling trees and floods in Thessaloniki, Pieria and Imathia (video and photo)

The damage was caused by stormy winds in the urban complex of Thessaloniki, while flooding was recorded by storms in the Pieria and Imathia Regional Units.

In Thessaloniki, winds reached 6 Beaufort, as a result of which tree branches were broken, others were uprooted, awnings were dismantled and there were power outages in some places.

In fact, according to the latest information from makthes.gr from the fire department, it was necessary to intervene in several cases, in order to remove trees and branches in Toumpa, Depo, Delphi, Melenikou, Poseidon and Patriarch Gregory.

Also, as you can see from the photos on makthes.gr, the streets of Thessaloniki accumulated water, due to heavy rain.

The storms in Imathia and Pieria caused flooding in basements, according to the fire department, as a result of which vehicles and firefighters rushed to pump water. In particular, floods were recorded in Veria, Katerini and Litochoro.

In particular, firefighters carried out 12 water pumps in Katerini, eight transports of people from trapped cars and for health reasons, in Veria five water pumps and two transports of people, in Litochoro 10 water pumps and one in Aridea of Pella and Polygyros in Halkidiki.

Another person was safely evacuated to Sozopol, Halkidiki.

At the same time, in Katerini, bad weather brought delays of 8 to 10 minutes on the suburban routes from Thessaloniki to Larissa, due to falling trees, according to TRAINOSE.
