A teleconference on the implementation of the coverage plan for vaccination of citizens against the coronavirus in Greece was held in the Palace of the Maxims, under the presidency of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
During the meeting the preparation for the reception, storage and distribution of vaccines was discussed. Special emphasis was placed on the prioritization of vaccination, as well as the way in which citizens will make appointments for their vaccination in the 1018 vaccination centers that will operate in Greece.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed that “this planning must be the absolute priority of the Ministry of Digital Government.” He also stressed that in the meantime the Ministry of Health must continue to focus on the operation of the Health System, since the pandemic is ongoing and there should be no relaxation.
It was also emphasized that a public information campaign is needed to increase confidence in science and convince those who are skeptical about the safety of the vaccine. It was noted that the contribution of the medical community will be crucial in this area. The preparation meeting will be held periodically so that everything is ready and for the vaccination to start immediately after receipt of the vaccines, which, according to current data, is expected in January.
The teleconference was attended by the Minister of Health, Vassilis Kikilias, the Minister of State and Digital Government, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the Minister of State, George Gerapetritis, the Deputy Minister of Health, Vassilis Kontozamanis, the Undersecretary of State, the Undersecretary of the Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson Stelios Petsas, the Secretary General of the Prime Minister, Grigoris Dimitriadis, the Secretary General for Public Health, Panagiotis Prezerakos, the Secretary General of the Primary School, Mr. The Secretary of Parliament, George Mylonakis and the Director of the Office of the Prime Minister in Parliament, Michalis Bekiris.
