The roadmap for opening the market was presented by the Minister of Development and Investment, Adonis Georgiadis, speaking with SKAI and the KALIMERA show, highlighting that the stores will reopen in stages, with a difference of 3-4 days between them.

“On Monday morning 110 seasonal stores open throughout the country, which sell purely Christmas items. We have received strong criticism from this industry, because we do not open all the stores that have Christmas items and only the pure ones. All these stores are 19,000. Do you understand the risk that decision would have as we try to control the pandemic? However, these 110 stores are few, we can control them and I believe that they will comply with the measures themselves, ”said Mr. Georgiadis.

However, he warned that if crowded scenes were filmed, there would be no other possibility and they would have to close again. “We will not risk the spread of the coronavirus at the most critical point,” he said.

Regarding the reopening of the market, the Minister of Public Works stressed that “our objective is to open the market in stages to avoid a large crowd at the same time, on the same day. “We are waiting for the green light from the Commission to open retail.” There is no time for them to open every week, they will open every 3-4 days, “he added.

“Obviously hairdressers, toys, bookstores and flower shops will precede it. “So, if everything goes well and we work with them open for 3-4 days and we see that things are under control and the measures are mainly observed, we will go to the rest of the retail trade,” he stressed. He clarified that he, as Minister of Development, plans to open all retail trade during the holidays, “because it is a great loss for a company not to work during this period.”

As you said, the malls in the tiered row are the last to open. The smaller stores will open first and then the larger ones. However, the shopping centers must also open the holidays ”, he clarified.

Especially in games, Mr. Georgiadis pointed out that when they open again, everyone will open together, big and small. “Large toy stores have a large volume of merchandise that also has seasonal characteristics. “Most of them are sold during the holidays,” he said.

Finally, he said that those who violate the measures, will not only be fined, but will automatically close and remain closed during the holidays.
