One more week, until Monday, December 14, the restrictive measures to reduce the coronavirus are extended due to the increase in viral load, as announced a while ago by government spokesman Stelios Petsas.
He stressed that there is a stabilization of the situation and a reduction in cases, but at a slower rate than expected and while discharges are more than hospital admissions, the pressure on the Health System continues to be serious.
Exceptionally, as of Monday, December 7, shops selling purely seasonal Christmas items will be allowed to operate, as well as their sale from supermarkets. Details of the schedule will be released tomorrow.
“We are very careful and we are waiting to see clear evidence of de-escalation of cases and decompression in the health system before taking another step”, emphasized Mr. Petsas.
When asked about the opening of hairdressers, schools and other subsectors, Mr. Petsas asked everyone to show a little patience, as the Prime Minister himself will probably take a position next week depending on the evolution of the pandemic. .
Financial package is completed as restrictions are extended
He assured that when the restrictive measures are extended, the government completes the financial package to support the victims in order to support their feet and that the financial staff will give more details in the near future.
Stelios Petsas also responded to opposition criticism of the pandemic, saying that the national front that has been formed by the coronavirus is being attacked by non-existent complaints that adopt conspiracy theorizing practices and fake news.
He stressed that the government has responded to these complaints as EODY but also experts and that citizens are well aware that the government has chosen to give a complete picture of the epidemiological situation in our country.
Hope in the vaccine
The government spokesman noted, however, that this Christmas, the hope that science brings to the world through vaccines will be visible and visible.
He stressed that vaccination will be voluntary and free and there will be an effort and a campaign to convince our fellow citizens of its safety and efficacy.
1,018 vaccination centers are already being established throughout Greece so that vaccination can begin after the first reception.
It is estimated that approximately 2,117,440 citizens will be able to get vaccinated monthly. And if more vaccines arrive, in the same month, the plan to establish additional vaccination centers may be further developed if necessary.
Health workers will be vaccinated first, followed by vulnerable groups (over 65 or with underlying diseases) and then the general population.
Citizens will be able to make an appointment for the vaccination via SMS, online or by phone through the call centers.
