A Greek family from Germany is among the victims of the maniac driver who killed yesterday in the center of Trier, in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The Greek community in the area is on the side of the family from the first moment, but also the parish priest of the Luxembourg parish, Spyridon Tsakonas, who, speaking with APE-MPE, spoke of an “extremely difficult situation”.
The city of Trier, on the German border with Luxembourg, has been shocked since yesterday by the tragedy caused by a 51-year-old German, who fell with his car on pedestrians and left five dead and fifteen injured. The perpetrator, who has been arrested, was under the influence of alcohol and is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation, while political motives are not considered possible.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry “expresses its grief over the tragic death of five citizens in Trier, Germany, yesterday, which unfortunately includes two Greeks, a man and his daughter just a few weeks old.”
According to information provided so far by the competent German authorities, his wife and son are receiving treatment for injuries.
