The newly elected US president suffered a broken leg while playing with one of his dogs and will likely need to wear a protective immobilization boot for a few weeks, his personal physician said Sunday.
The incident occurred on Saturday, Biden’s office said in a statement, and the newly elected 78-year-old president visited an orthopedist on Sunday (11/29) for X-rays and an x-ray.
Doctors initially believed that Biden had simply sprained his ankle, but ordered additional examinations of the wound, according to APE-MPE.
“A subsequent confirmed (small) axial fractures,” said personal physician Kevin O’Connor in a separate statement issued by Biden’s office. “You will probably need an immobilizer boot for a few weeks,” added her doctor.
Following his victory over outgoing President Donald Trump in the November 3 presidential election, Biden will be the oldest man to take office as President of the United States when he is sworn in on January 20. Your health is likely to be closely monitored by your allies, but also your opponents.
Trump, who has not admitted defeat in the election and is contesting the election results in court, wished Biden a speedy recovery. “Get well soon!” Trump said in a Twitter message.
