The professor of Pediatrics-Infectious Diseases of the EKPA and a member of the commission of the Ministry of Health, Vana Papaevangelou, spoke in favor of lifting the lockdown in “two speeds”, speaking with SKAI 100.3, while insisting on the opening of primary schools and the ban on travel from prefecture to prefecture

As he obviously pointed out, it is necessary to open some activities, but when has not yet been decided, since these days the Commission will meet daily to arrive at the “map” of the opening. “By the middle of the week, the sense of the map will have been created, that is, what will open and when and at the end of the week the relevant decisions will be made,” said Ms. Papaevangelou.

He pointed out that the Primary Schools should be opened, but at this stage the Commission is processing the data of the schools to see the real cases that were registered in them before they closed.

Regarding the lifting of restrictions by region based on epidemiological data, the professor of Pediatrics-Infectious Diseases stressed that “it is unfair that some areas have horizontal measures” citing as an example Ioannina who showed exemplary behavior. However, he emphasized that the Commission could have proposed it, but “it is a political decision to open two marches.”

As for what will be born with the transfers from county to county, he said that “studies show that some horizontal measures are effective in reducing the spread of the virus.”

However, he added that “even if some activities are opened, citizens should not relax. We take our lesson.”

Regarding vaccines, Ms. Papaevangelou said that today the competent Committee will meet to achieve priority, that is, in what order the population will be vaccinated, noting that vaccination will begin by medical personnel, at the beginning of the year. He added that the competent European regulatory authority must first be approved and then the vaccines, which are ready. He noted that there will be vaccination centers in all parts of Greece, while stressing that “our goal is not to force people to get vaccinated, but to convince them.”

For the flu vaccine, for which there is a shortage on the market, he said it comes in doses. “It just came to our notice then.” Obviously they are done and we are waiting for more to come, “he said characteristically.
