At a time when Greece is in a state of health war with far more casualties than we would have with normal weapons, a climate of civil war raises very serious questions.
What is revealed about the conflicts between scientists and politicians, about the role of EODY in the registry of cases and the decisions made, as well as about the responsibilities that exist in the way in which the State managed the second pandemic is shocking.
Although it is not the time for “accountability” and accountability – the opposition says the same – now there is a very serious problem for the government that must be solved, even now.
And mainly in the hands of the prime minister is the “hot potato” of greater management of the crisis, the decisions that will be made for the holidays but also a possible third wave of pandemic in January.
With people tired, frustrated, scared, and financially devastated, it’s no longer easy to invoke individual responsibility when collective responsibilities come to light.
That is, when specific government and political agencies (and not only) did not do what they had to do to prevent the outbreak of the pandemic and the death toll.
The parallel register
The data revealed by “Vima tis Kyriakis” on the role of EODY in the daily management of the pandemic are impressive. And the National Agency may have rushed, Sunday morning to refute what is written in the press, but to the people of Jerusalem, all this was more or less known.
According to the El Paso report, which is worth buying to read shocking revelations, there are conflicts and fronts have formed that do enormous damage. The two camps are made up of Messrs. Sotiris Tsiodras and N. Hardalia, on the one hand, and the Minister of Health, V. Kikilias, and the president of EODY, Pan. Arkumanea, on the other.
Despite the rumors starting in May that Mr. Tsiodras and Mr. Hardalias “were in the knife”, at this stage they appear to be together in front of the other camp.
For several weeks now, there have been rumors that decisions made about the areas in “red” due to the coronavirus are based on incorrect data. Στοιχεία in data that were several days away from making decisions.
And it is no coincidence that Professor Tsiodras himself said that Thessaloniki defeated the coronavirus and is a model, but two weeks later the co-capital became the “black hole” of the pandemic.
The scientists – and then the government through Mr. Hardalia – accuse EODY of carelessness in recording the cases and the information they had to make the necessary decisions.

According to “Vima”, there was essentially a parallel system for registering cases with the National Public Health Organization. Basically, the Patient Registry that was created in the first wave of the pandemic, was not updated properly and at the right time because EODY wanted to create their own Registry.
Thus the following tragic situation was created. A case that occurred in a hospital must be reported directly to the Patient Registry, but a case in a neighborhood or mobile unit must first be reported to EODY.
However, the Organization made the registry with its own logic and with other rhythms because since August it wanted to create its own Registry, its own archive.
And a ridiculous situation was created where IDIKA, which is the only one in charge of keeping records from the Ministry of Health, does not know what to do with this double system of parallel registration of cases.
Thus, with two different methods of registering the cases, the daily announcement ends up being a crude stapling of data that disoriented the scientists and Citizen Protection who made the final decisions.
In short, Tsiodras and Hardalias had in their hands data that did not reflect the reality regarding the daily registry of cases, especially in “red” areas such as Thessaloniki, Drama, Serres, Ioannina, Attica neighborhoods, etc. .
What EODY says
In its response, the National Agency, on Sunday morning, categorically denies the allegations about the Dual Registry, highlighting that: “There is only one case registration system, the National COVID-19 Registry. The allegations about parallel systems and dual recording are categorically refuted. Some, intentionally or unknowingly, mistake their imaginative scenarios for the necessary epidemiological verification.
More than 100 EODY scientists work daily to collect, process and analyze data.
With the most valid and reliable data, EODY’s “Daily Epidemiological Surveillance Report of New Coronavirus Infection (COVID-19)” is compiled and published daily.
At the same time, it emphasizes that such publications defame 2,500 employees, while highlighting that cooperation with the Infectious Diseases Committee was and remains excellent.
However, the doctors with access to IDIKA have a different opinion, saying that the registered cases are 1/3 of the real ones due to the attempt to sew two different methods: the first one that started a few months ago and the one in August, when EODY wanted commission an individual to create their own file.
And other complaints
However, for EODY it is not the only “black hole” that comes to light. According to information from in.gr, for weeks there has been intense dissatisfaction with the tests that mobile units must carry out.
The information usually affirms that there was a strong protest in the Palace of the Maximum by government officials in order to carry out tests in closed units that EODY did not attend.
Specifically, the intervention of Maximos was requested so that the Organization could mobilize and test in Detention Centers, Residences and Services of the Local Administration. 
Deputies, mayors and members of the government itself had denounced EODY’s dramatic delay in transitioning and conducting tests in places that seemed to lead to dramatic situations.
A few days ago, the daily “Kathimerini” published documents, according to which the Ministry of Citizen Protection desperately asked EODY to rush to specific prisons for testing. Specifically, he asked to go to the Diavata prison in Thessaloniki since the beginning of October, when the first cases of employees appeared.
Finally, and after the outbreak of cases, which exceeded 100 in jails and prisoners, EODY came out a month later, on November 6.
The same, according to the same documents, happened with the prisons in Corfu with EODY being dramatically delayed in sending a team to conduct a test.
The same was reported to in.gr by the local authorities who asked for evidence but either the carelessness, or the really high workload at EODY, delayed the inspections and finally there were cases that were never registered, nor of course measures were taken.
What happened in the summer
We saw the subject of complaints last summer on the islands. In.gr and Mega were found in Paros, which by mid-August had “blushed” from cases, which, however, were not recorded in the daily report.
At that time in the Paros hospital, the complainants said, there were more than 30 suspected cases while in the local community it was known that there were tourists and locals who had symptoms of coronavirus but were not registered and left.
There were similar complaints on other islands, especially the Cyclades. That is, while they knew about the cases, the Region appeared “free covid.” The professionals even made official complaints about the event. 
In any case, there is an active “bomb” in the government that must be detonated. If there are tragic mistakes, you have to look for them, especially now that the situation is critical and decisions must be made about schools, restaurants, shops and how to make Christmas.
If the government and the scientists who made the suggestions “fought” over the pandemic, because the data was incorrect, lagged, or problematic in terms of its collection, then a major problem arises.
Especially if there is a third wave of pandemics and scientists say that the lockdown should not be lifted because they may have a national tragedy.
