Eighteen are the areas of the country where the epidemiological burden of the coronavirus remains particularly high, according to Nikos Hardalias.

The Undersecretary of State for Civil Protection and Crisis Management said that it was considered necessary to extend the confinement until December 7 due to the high epidemiological burden.

In the following areas, the virus burden remains high:

  • Lump
  • Drama
  • Thessaloniki
  • Grevena
  • Florina
  • Pieria
  • Imathia
  • Serres
  • Larissa
  • Kilkis
  • Chalkidiki
  • Magnesia
  • Blonde
  • Karditsa
  • Evros
  • Kavala
  • Rodopi
  • Trikala

“Bell” for three areas

At the same time, Mr. Hardalias drew attention to Achaia, Etoloakarnania and Ilia.

In these three areas of western Greece, there is an increase in cases. In fact, today Kyriakos Mitsotakis contacted the mayor of Patras on the occasion of the high epidemiological burden in Acaya and the upcoming feast of Saint Andrew.

Mr. Hardalias also reported that in recent days more than 1,441,000 controls of the coronavirus measures have been carried out.

It’s too early to talk about what will happen at the holidays

Regarding the discussion that is taking place in recent days about the measures that will be in force during the Christmas holidays and about a possible lifting of the confinement, the undersecretary stressed that it is still early to make decisions.

He warned, however, that this year Christmas will be different, like all over the world.

Finally, he called on citizens to respect the measures – which “will be applied in their entirety” – during the next ten days.
