The government announced yesterday the first extension of the confinement until December 7, without anyone being able to rule out another.
The duration of the confinement will be judged by 7 regions of the country that register the highest epidemiological burden among them Thessaloniki, Larissa, Patras and Magnesia, while the results of the wastewater study in Athens and Thessaloniki give a break where a reduction of viral load by 50%.
However, today is a particularly critical day, as discussions are expected to begin on a strategic plan to lift restrictions on social and economic life.
Specifically, the experts who have in their hands all the epidemiological data and models will decide when and how to give the green light to remove the blockade.
The decisions will not be easy at all, because according to the information there are already contradictory opinions about the opening of the restaurant, but also with concrete measures that should or should not be eliminated, such as the traffic ban and SMS.
Course in decline in Attica
However, the strict restrictive measures show that they are slowly weakening the virus. The new and encouraging results of the sewage measurements in Attica and Thessaloniki create a climate of optimism.
Specifically, in Attica in the period 10/30 to 11/6, the average number of bodies for the basin amounted to 49,500.
In the first week of the 7-12 / 11 running of the bulls the players decreased to 35,300.
In the second week of the running of the bulls, in the period 13-18 / 11 the number dropped to 21,100, while in the third week 19-23 / 11 it fell rapidly to 6,200 players.
The situation in Thessaloniki has also improved, since according to the rector of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Nikos Papaioannou who spoke with MEGA, the viral load this week is 50% lower than the average price of the previous week.
In any case, the experts’ decisions will be made today based on epidemiological data, while so far the pressure on the SEN continues to increase, in contrast to the cases that begin and show a downward trend.
Raising in … installments
The removal of the blockade is expected in installments.
According to the information, schools are expected to open first.
Experts agree that primary schools, kindergartens, and nurseries should open first, and then the rest.
Then the stores will open. Two scenarios are preferred for this stage.
Either the small stores will open first and the large stores and the commercial stores much later or they will open all together, but in the case of commercial stores there will be very strict rules.
However, a large part of the experts seems to “lean” towards the first plan, that is, first the opening of the small stores, then the large ones and at the end of the malls.
Focus is a huge headache – experts disagree anywhere
However, the biggest headache for specialists is focus. Not only have the experts not unanimously drawn up a plan, but a large part of the scientists do not agree with its openness despite the restrictive measures that already exist.
The most common scenarios are two.
The first scenario says that the green light will be given to open only the restaurants during the holidays. Of course, here also the strict conditions (distances, reservations, fewer people) will apply.
Note here that the ban may continue as it did for a long time before the lock.
The second scenario follows the French model, that is, to open the restaurant universally after the holidays, that is, around January 20.
Both decisions provoke a cry of anxiety and despair in the owners and employees of this sector, since not only will another profitable period for businesses be lost, but new locks will arrive, while thousands of employees will be left in the air.
New Year’s Eve with prohibitions and restrictions
As in.gr has already reported, this year New Years Eve will not only be very different, but will also have several restrictions.
Initially, it is very likely that travel outside the prefecture will be banned, while the restriction of meetings to 9 people will be maintained.
In addition, to avoid the possibility of parties at home, the authorities are considering not only the implementation of SMS trips especially for those days, but also the prohibition of traffic from early afternoon until the early hours of New Years and Christmas.
