With Greece going through the third week of the universal confinement, a small ray of optimism is now glimpsed, which is reflected both in the reduction of cases and in the positivity rate of our country, which fell below 10% after a long time. This is the reason why discussions have now started to lift the restrictive measures.

However, the pressure on the healthcare system remains suffocating, as more of our fellow citizens are being treated with intubation every day, while the number of deaths remains particularly high. The epidemiological situation in our country is not as expected and therefore the confinement will last at least one to two weeks.

In any event, government personnel have decided to wait a few more days to make their final decisions to lift the blockade and then plan to return to some normalcy, in light of the Christmas season.

The information so far indicates that the removal of the lockdown is expected to begin on December 7 with the opening of schools, while the SMS to 13033 is expected to remain in effect in the new year. A little information, no, we talk about SMS until… Easter.

Final decisions for Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as everything shows, will be made on Thursday, while announcements will be made about twenty-four hours later.

11% drop in cases

The data that the government is studying to make decisions on gradually lifting the lockdown measures is specific, and the government, according to a report by MEGA, is seeing a slow drop in cases in the latest tests of 11%.

This comparison refers to today, with the same day of the previous week. Specifically, today 11/24 some 32,500 coronavirus tests were carried out, while a week ago, 11/17 about 31,000 tests.

So with a few more tests in the last 24 hours, fewer new cases were recorded (2135 ss today compared to 2422 tests last week) and this is first and good news for the flattening of the epidemiological curve.

Of course, no matter how good the news is today, what matters is that the good course continues in the coming days, so that safer conclusions can be drawn.

Different christmas

At the same time, the government is planning a Christmas at home with restrictions on Easter due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the information, our trips will continue to have restrictions and SMS at Christmas, although the economy opens gradually and carefully.

The following will apply during Christmas and New Years:

1. There will be no movement from prefecture to prefecture
2. All winter resorts will be closed.
3. The ski resorts will also remain closed

In fact, the measure to restrict movement from one prefecture to another appears to be extended further, effectively dividing the country into epidemiological zones.

What will happen to the schools

When will the stores open?

The most likely date for the opening of the stores is December 14, followed by the restaurant and some restaurants and cafes (their opening is calculated … Christmas Eve), which will operate only with a seat, specific hours and strict protection measures.

According to the Deputy Minister of Development and Investment, Nikos Papathanasis, “we are evaluating the situation day by day and soon, probably in the next few days, it is expected that decisions will be made on the opening of the market and the ways in which it will be done.”

After Easter, a ban will apply on Christmas Day for any New Years Eve in the home, as restrictions on home gatherings will go into effect as a result of the 2020 changes.
