EODY announced 1,388 new cases of coronavirus in the country.

According to the member of the Expert Committee, Vana Papaevangelou, the number of people in the ICU rose to 549 and 84 people lost their lives to the coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

At the beginning of the information on the course of the pandemic in Greece, Mrs. Vana Papaevangelou, member of the Committee of Experts, highlighted that in the country’s hospitals around 4,400 patients are treated with Covid while the fullness in ICUs across the country reaches 86%.

He expressed moderate optimism that the measures have started to bear fruit and called for continued efforts to flatten the curve.

In northern Greece there is a stabilization, perhaps a drop in cases, said Ms Papaevangelou, “but not at the rate we would expect,” adding that “it is clear that the measures are not observed by everyone.”

He asked citizens to make their personal confinement, that is, to choose a small and stable group of family and friends to meet.

He responded to those who claim that the coronavirus is similar to the flu, noting that in recent days we have had almost 100 deaths from COVID while the flu epidemic has not exceeded 100 deaths throughout the year.

He highlighted the danger of exceeding the limits of the health system, noting that low morbidity depends not only on the age of the patient but also on the capacity of the system to provide the necessary care.

Even in Germany, where it has so far taken in patients from other countries, it has reached a saturation point.
