An elderly man in Zimbabwe died horribly when a herd of hyenas pulled him out of bed while he slept, pulled him out, and devoured him.

The unfortunate 87-year-old man was swept away by wild mammals for more than 300 meters. The incident occurred last Monday night in a rural area in the center of the country. When the villagers found his lifeless body, the lower half was missing.

The news was confirmed via Twitter by a spokesman for the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority, who wrote: “An old man killed by a hyena in Tsiroumantzou (87) was living alone. He was sleeping in a hut when it happened.” they dragged about 300 meters, and the lower part of the body was missing. Trawl marks and hyena tracks were visible. ”

After this incident, the locals were called to be careful, avoid moving around at night and keep all doors and windows closed until the animals are trapped.

Attacks on animals are not uncommon during the summer, according to the representative of the competent authority.

“This tends to happen at this time of year, because they are the driest months during which food and water are often scarce. Therefore, animals move long distances, and in herds, in search of food,” he told CNN .

The problem, he added, is due in large part to overpopulation of animals. That was compounded by the destruction of their habitats by climate change, while the coronavirus pandemic made things worse, he said.
