The plan for phasing out the measures is expected to be considered within the next week, according to government spokesman Stelios Petsas, who said, however, that “December 1 does not appear to be a realistic goal at this time.” .
“We never talked about a specific schedule, we were talking about phases of a gradual return to a form of normality in December,” Petsas told ERT, adding that “unfortunately, the first week of closure was quite relaxed.”
Mr. Petsas expressed appreciation that there was a relaxation that fueled the cases, noting that “we didn’t see the flattening of the curve that fast.”
“We will see next week what the plan should be for the gradual lifting of the measures,” he continued.
The government spokesman stressed, however, that “at this stage we must fight to reduce the coronavirus.”
Asked about this, he reiterated that planning starts from the field with the least epidemiological burden, such as schools, followed by retail and then focus.
What he said about ordering private clinics
Regarding the request for two private clinics in Thessaloniki, Mr. Petsas said that both he and the Minister of Health had indicated that if necessary, in addition to cooperation with the private sector, there would be a request.
He added that this discussion has been going on for days, since both the Minister of Health and the Secretary General of the Ministry had gone to Thessaloniki, while during this period there were communications in order to voluntarily provide single beds in private clinics.
He added that since this did not happen and given the pressure on the health system in Thessaloniki, it was decided to order two of the nine private clinics for 200 single beds for COVID.
Order of two private clinics in Thessaloniki
It is recalled that in order of two private clinics in Thessaloniki the Ministry of Health proceeded. In particular, as it became known, two private clinics and their staff are now at the disposal of the fourth health district.
According to the ministry, it was deemed necessary to operate COVID-19 single beds in private clinics, while, although a request was submitted, it was not possible to find a commonly accepted solution, thus requiring two private clinics.
It is noted that a letter from the Secretary General of Health Services to the Panhellenic Association of Private Clinics and the Association of Greek Clinics had preceded, with the corresponding deadline expiring Thursday night.
