Former Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn will rejoin the party, from which he was temporarily removed after the publication of an “explosive” report on anti-Semitism in the party ranks, British media reported tonight.

The Independent Committee for Equality and Human Rights said in October that it had found evidence of political interference in the handling of complaints of anti-Semitism and harassment, and that the party had not adequately educated those responsible for investigating the complaints.

The current leader of the Labor Party, Kir Starmer, has been trying to distance himself from Corbyn to turn the party around, after four consecutive electoral losses since 2010.

Earlier today, Corbin tried to end the matter. “I hope the issue is resolved as soon as possible, so that the party can work to eradicate anti-Semitism and, together, oppose and defeat this deeply destructive conservative government,” he wrote on Facebook.

The decision to remove it was reversed

Corbyn, 71, was expelled from the party for questioning some of the commission’s findings, which in its report spoke of Labor’s “unacceptable weakness” as a result of its “unwillingness to combat anti-Semitism.” The former Labor leader claimed that the media exaggerated anti-Semitism within the party under his leadership (2015-2020).

The decision to remove him was reversed today by the National Labor Executive Committee (NEC).

Starmer, who had spoken of a “shameful day” for the party when the report was made public, denied that he wanted to “clean up” the Labor Party and lead to a “civil” party, while Corbyn, who remains an MP,, he is especially popular on the left wing of the party.
